The Vancouver Shade Garden Society was formed on January 30, 2003 in Vancouver, British Columbia with 14 members. The Society’s mission is to foster and encourage the cultivation and promotion of shade plants (focussing primarily on fuchsias, begonias, ferns, gesneriads, impatiens, coleus, hostas and others).

During the year we will be holding special education programs for our members and other gardening enthusiasts who are interested in learning more about the culture of shade garden plants. Our programs will present information on growing and cultivation and tie in to the seasonal necessities of shade-loving plants. We will also present and incorporate interesting and exciting “tips” from our members to help you grow successful show quality plants.
